Mount Diablo State Park offers visitors hiking, cycling, equestrian trails and camping across more than 20,000 acres of parkland. The summit reaches 3,849 feet above sea level and features an observation deck and visitor center. The state park is one of several protected preserves in the Mount Diablo region; Save Mount Diablo, a land conservation nonprofit headquartered in Walnut Creek, has helped protect over 120,000 acres of natural lands connected to the mountain and the surrounding Diablo Range.

The park attracts visitors year-round for outdoor recreation. More than 520 miles of trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding across varied terrain and elevations. Many residents use the park for day trips and weekend outings, and the proximity to Walnut Creek makes it an accessible destination for families seeking outdoor time without a long drive.

Families who spend time together in outdoor recreation—hiking, camping, or watching the city and the surrounding valleys from the mountaintop—rely on the income that makes that time possible. Life insurance ensures that if something were to happen to a parent or income earner, those family traditions would be preserved and the household would not face financial pressure during a difficult transition.
